John Nasca has been named Artistic Associate for Pride Films and Plays. John is thrilled to be working with David Zak and all the talented people associated with the company.
John Nasca to direct staged reading of Beautiful Thing
Pride Productions, headed by David Zak, will be presenting Five Decades of Great Gay Plays, a series of staged readings which recognizes that an understanding of the history of great gay writing is a key to moving forward.
Pride Production strives to achieve this goal through classes, writing contests, staged workshops, and ultimately, the production of gay films and plays.
Five Decades of Great Gay Plays is an exploration of the history of gay drama, with readings performed on Sunday evenings at the Theatre Building Chicago from May 9 to June 20. Performances include:
May 9 -The Boys In The Band, Mart Crowley’s ground-breaker from 1968 Directed by Michael Lasswell
May 16 -Fifth of July, Lanford Wilson’s drama from 1973 Directed by Patrick Walsh
May 23 -As Is, William M. Hoffman’s searing drama, which opened on Broadway in 1985 Directed by Steve Scott
June 6-Beautiful Thing, Jonathan Harvey’s British love story from 1993 Directed by John Nasca
June 20 -Take Me Out, Richard Greenberg’s Broadway smash from 2003 Directed by David Zak
All performances are at 7:00pm at the Theatre Building Chicago, 1225 West Belmont. All tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased by calling 773-327-5252 or online at Ticketmaster.com.
